Tucked away in the storybook village of Easton, just ten minutes from the heart of Winchester, The Chestnut Horse is a warm, characterful country pub at the heart of the Itchen Valley. Set along the much-loved Itchen Way and closely connected to the historic Avington Estate, it’s a place to pause – whether for a leisurely lunch, a fireside pint, or a longer stay in one of our cosy, charming rooms.
Our kitchen celebrates seasonal, locally sourced ingredients across a thoughtful à la carte and set menu, alongside one of the Hampshire’s most cherished Sunday roasts. The deli and farm shop offer everything from everyday essentials to fresh pastries, cakes, sandwiches and excellent coffee – perfect for walkers passing through or those gathering supplies for home.

Steak Night
Every Tuesday from 6pm
£49 for 2 people – Tuesday is steak night: Enjoy two flat iron steaks, your choice of sauce, unlimited fries and a bottle of wine.
Looking for something for yourself? Why not try The Easton Mixed Grill for £35. Enjoy a flat iron steak, chicken breast, gammon steak, two sausages, beef brisket scotch egg, chunky chips, two fried hen’s egg, steak salad, and choose from a selection of sauces.

Our head chef has curated a locally sourced menu offering a range of small plates, pub classics, sharing boards and signature dishes. Our all-day dining menu features something for everyone! Start your day with breakfast from the deli, pop in for a bite at lunchtime, or make a night of it with a three-course evening meal. All whilst enjoying our selection of fine wines, local ales, handcrafted cocktails or English Sparkling Wine from our neighbouring vineyard, The Grange.
